In 2007 there was a storm over New South Wales. Parts of Newcastle were flooded. A bulk carrier, the Pasha Bulka, tried to enter the Newcastle Harbour, but missed and ran aground on Nobbys Beach south of the entrance. It was there for a month before being floated off.
During its time on the beach it was a tourist attraction and thousands of people took photos.
There have been other shipwrecks on the north side of the harbor entrance in the past.
